ADK Island Runners Statement of Regulatory Compliance
ADK Island Runners understands that:
The Department of Environmental Conservation (“DEC”) regulates all watercraft on Lake George, which includes commercial vessels like tour boats, rental boats, parasailing boats and other similar operations
The Lake George Park Commission (“LGPC”) handles the specific commercial permitting for these types of vessels, ensuring they meet environmental and safety standards.
The DEC manages island permits, and when visiting DEC managed islands you need either a camping or day-use permit.
Unless operating a commercial vessel, there are no documented regulations requiring a separate New York State DEC commercial permit for delivering firewood, water, or ice via boat on Lake George—as long as:
Your boat has all required LGPC registrations/permits, and you’re not performing DEC-regulated site work, like unloading materials below the mean high-water line, excavation/fill, or disturbing the shoreline or regulated DEC lands in any manner.
Delivering supplies (wood, water, ice) by boat—without doing any shoreline work—is considered normal, non-regulated commercial activity, with no DEC permit requirement.
DEC commercial permits are only needed if you’re physically impacting shoreline or waterbody structures (e.g., docks, fill, excavation).
Therefore, let it be stated that:
ADK Island Runners is a registered Limited Liability Company with the New York State Department of State and is licensed to do business in New York
ADK Island Runners doesn’t own or operate any commercial vessels on Lake George. ADK Island Runner’s delivery drivers are independent contractors who operate their own personal vessels, similar to Uber, DoorDash, and Instacart delivery services.
ADK Island Runners requires all of our drivers’ vessels to possess a current NY State Boat Registration, a current LGPC annual registration, and a current DEC Annual Day-Use Passport.
ADK Island Runners does not deliver any regulated items such as alcohol, cannabis, fuel, etc.
ADK Island Runners doesn’t operate Public Vessels (“PV’s”) on Lake George and as such doesn’t provide boat tours, rental boats, water sports or other similar activities which are regulated by the LGPC and require corresponding LGPC permits.
ADK Island Runners doesn’t camp on, dock at, or physically occupy DEC managed campgrounds. We deliver orders to customer’s boats and/or docks.
In situations where there is an unoccupied day-use dock, we have Annual Day-Use Passports so that these un-occupied docks can be used for a short-period of time to unload items for customers.
